Baaaaa
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
As my children were signing this today, I wondered what the song meant. Here's what I found:
Origin
This popular rhyme probably dates back to the Middle Ages, possibly to the 13th Century, and relates to a tax imposed by the king on wool. One-third went to the local lord (the 'master'), one-third to the church (referred to as the 'dame') and about a third was for the farmer (the 'little boy who lives down the lane').
More recently it has been the subject of some controversy in the UK where nurseries are citing a 'rainbow' sheep for fear of upsetting children with the idea that any sheep might possibly be black!!! I give up.......
This is my attempt at a blog post that has to do with something else besides pics of my kids.
Since this is my web-log, I'd also like to post another random thought. Getting a salad at Mcdonalds to cut back on calories makes no sense if when you finish the salad, you also finish your kids Happy Meal.

Buns in the oven
No-I'm not pregnant! We were just making buns! Hamburger buns that is. Why would you make your own hamburger buns? You make your own because burgers are on the menu, you don't have any buns, and going to the store with 4 kids is harder than making your own. The kids wanted to help and insisted that they needed wooden spoons to pat the buns flat. They look like they turned out pretty good. Hopefully they taste that way.
Birthday week
We survived March birthday week where James and Libby have their birthdays in the same week! We had a lot of fun!
James got the legos he wanted! He is ecstatic! Ecstatic is a big word for me.
Greetings from afar! We were all very impressed with the drawing skills of Aunt Kelly and Uncle Toby! Well done!
