Diapers and pull ups and wipes-OH MY!
These gas prices are killing me and I'm more greatful than ever for good sales and awesome coupons! I got 3 packs of pull ups, 2 packs of diapers and 2 packs of wipes that contain 3 refills each for $9 and change! Retail on these would have been $53.93! Thank you CVS and Target. Also at Target I got lightbulbs, paper towels, bandaids, and sunscreen for free with coupons. I'd love to find some gas coupons.

Wilton Cake class
I have been taking a cake decorating class with some friends at Hobby Lobby. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Here is what I was able to create last night.
I know clowns can look creepy but my children love these!

The Wilton Rose

This is totally my own design!

I'm having so much fun with this. Next week we get to make our final cake. I can't wait!! Stay tuned for The trip to Colorado-days 1-4!

Since I'm bored today because I'm one-handed, I'll post some more interesting stuff. Im typing with only two fingers on my left hand. Also, since I was talking to Panera bread today, I thought I could also mention my love affair with Walgreens.
Walgreens is on practically every corner. Walgreens always has great sales that I usually have coupons for. Walgreens also gives me rebates on stuff I buy there, but the real reaon I am in love with Walgreens this week is because they made the rebates redeemable ONLINE! I dont have to send in my rebates anymore. Thank you Walgreens for meeting my needs. I recieved this in my email this morning:
Dear Kristen,
We have processed your Easy Saver May 2008 rebate request.
We will add within 4 days a credit in the amount of $24.69 to your gift card balance, which includes your 10% bonus.
See that 10% bonus part?? If I decide to have my rebate put on my Walgreens gift card, they give me 10% of my rebate!
The best part about this rebate is that the stuff I bought only cost me $21.71 which was put on my Walgreens gift card from last months rebates. I heart Walgreens.

Panera Bread-oh how I love you. Your loaves of bread are crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside and so delicious. I might even sacrifice a finger for you.
Ok-so I did practically cut off my finger while trying to cut a very crusty loaf of Panera bread. We even had company. They had to watch our kids while Paul took me to Express care. It was worse than we thought-I cut it all the way to the bone! I only had 3 stitches. I need some sympathy please.
The culprit: My large serrated bread knife.
I am officially the one handed mom.

Sayings
I like these two sayings or quotes or whatever they are called that I came across this week. Neither of them have authors that I could find.
"If God tells you to get on the other side of that impossible looking wall, it’s your job to get up to the wall and it’s God’s job to get you over."
“Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”

Since you saw us last....
We began preparing for our garden. Or rather, Paul prepared with the kids and I watched and took pictures.
We're really enjoying spring out here on the homestead. The kids love a good pile 'o' dirt.
Joel turned 1!! Happy Birthday Joel! About one year ago, we had our first homebirth. Joel just had to have the biggest head of them all. Thanks Joel! We love you so much!
Paul and Sydney went to Georgia for a Father/Daughter Retreat. They had a great time! It was beautiful there.

Baaaaa
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
As my children were signing this today, I wondered what the song meant. Here's what I found:
Origin
This popular rhyme probably dates back to the Middle Ages, possibly to the 13th Century, and relates to a tax imposed by the king on wool. One-third went to the local lord (the 'master'), one-third to the church (referred to as the 'dame') and about a third was for the farmer (the 'little boy who lives down the lane').
More recently it has been the subject of some controversy in the UK where nurseries are citing a 'rainbow' sheep for fear of upsetting children with the idea that any sheep might possibly be black!!! I give up.......
This is my attempt at a blog post that has to do with something else besides pics of my kids.
Since this is my web-log, I'd also like to post another random thought. Getting a salad at Mcdonalds to cut back on calories makes no sense if when you finish the salad, you also finish your kids Happy Meal.

Buns in the oven
No-I'm not pregnant! We were just making buns! Hamburger buns that is. Why would you make your own hamburger buns? You make your own because burgers are on the menu, you don't have any buns, and going to the store with 4 kids is harder than making your own. The kids wanted to help and insisted that they needed wooden spoons to pat the buns flat. They look like they turned out pretty good. Hopefully they taste that way.
Birthday week
We survived March birthday week where James and Libby have their birthdays in the same week! We had a lot of fun!
James got the legos he wanted! He is ecstatic! Ecstatic is a big word for me.
Greetings from afar! We were all very impressed with the drawing skills of Aunt Kelly and Uncle Toby! Well done!
